FRESH! OHIO FARM & GARDEN TWO-DAY TOUR #2, starts in Lorain County
DAY 1
9:00am-10:30am
Arrive Don Moulds Plantation, a garden center and gift shop. Participate in a horticulture demonstration ranging from container gardening, to pruning, to Heavenly Hydrangeas!
10:30am-11:30am
Take a walking tour of the Oberlin College Campus Gardens or tour the Adam Joseph Lewis Center, Oberlin College's uniquely green Environmental Studies building.
11:30am-12:30pm
Enjoy some time on your own to shop Downtown Oberlin at the many shops along Main Street.
12:30pm-1:30pm
Lunch at the Garden Inn Restaurant at Oberlin Inn.
2:15pm-3:15pm
Your next stop will be Mapleside Farms. Take a short tour of the Apple House, see where they wash and sort apples. Be sure to get a cold refreshing glass of cider, it's spectacular. After your tour take time to check out the gift shop, apple house and bakery before you leave.
4:00pm-5:00pm
You will be stopping at Root Candles at West Liberty. Here you will learn about the colorful history of this century old company who has made its name from bees. Before you leave, be sure to check out the wonderful gifts you can find here.
5:30pm-6:30pm
Dinner at one of the fine Medina County restaurants.
DAY 2
9:30am-10:30am
Begin your tour at Quailcrest Farms and enjoy the herbs, perennials, scented geraniums, old roses, flowering trees and shrubs. The Garden Barn is full of fountains, birdbaths, baskets, dried flowers and wonderful garden surprises. Two shops include pottery, linens, wreaths, glass, jewelry and gifts. The library room includes garden books and the "tastiest" of cookbooks.
11:00am-12Noon
The J.M. Smucker Store & Cafe - all the goodness of Smucker's in a store, housed in a beautiful timber framed barn. Simply Smuckers is brimming with all your favorites. You'll find gift baskets, great gift ideas and delicious products to sample. Don't miss their new bake shop!
12:30pm-1:30pm
The Barn Restaurant was established in 1983. The original barn, built in 1937, houses the dining area and banquet facilities. After lunch, enjoy the view of the three acre lake and visit the neighboring Shops of the Buchanan Place and the newly opened Amish Furniture Workshops.
2:00pm-3:00pm
Tour Hartzler Family Dairy, the place for homemade natural ice cream. They produce the most natural milk possible. No herbicides, pesticides or artificial hormones are used. During processing the milk is pasteurized, but not homogenized. Come taste the difference. Sandwiches, salads, baked goods and sugar-free, fat-free frozen yogurt is available.
3:30pm
Before leaving for home, take some time to wonder through historic downtown Wooster with its many book stores and unique gift shops. Check out Everything Rubbermaid and pick up containers for all those fresh vegetables and visit their garden tool section. Visit the new Tulipan Hungarian Pastry and Coffee Shop on the Square in downtown Wooster. Relax in the old world atmosphere while enjoying a cup of gourmet coffee or tea and sampling one of their delectable pastries.
